Samaria Lodge

Samaria is a rustic and magical hunting & fishing paradise. Built in 1945 as a functioning farmhouse, it was renovated in 2025 blending timeless craftsmanship with modern comforts. Here, we have built something rare - a special place where you can step off the grid and experience unique South American wingshooting and angling. Samaria is truly a retreat from the hectic pace of the modern world.

Located in the Province of Soriano, clients find themselves immersed in quiet remoteness surrounded by thousands of doves where the only sounds are the numerous pops of fired shotgun shells in the direction of thousands of passing doves, darting and weaving through the sky like a never ending hive of mad honeybees.

Following the morning dove shoot, during the cool of the year, enjoy the keen nose of our brittanys working a field and the flush of a pair of perdiz as they dart through the air in their desperate attempt to evade the range of your shotgun. Or, enjoy a mid-day fishing trip down the nearby Rio Negra River only 5 minutes away to experience the sound of drag pulling from your reel as the powerful, iridescent golden dorado acrobatically leaps from the water in an effort to escape.

Enjoy a full breakfast followed later by Uruguayan cuisine for lunch and dinner accompanied by South American wines, and beer. End the day with a retreat outdoors, once again, to enjoy the night fullof stars withoiuht the contamination of the city lights while sitting around a crackling fire, enjoying your beverage of choice while sharing stories of the day's adventures.

One of Samaria's most unique traits is the ability to provide all of the experiences described above with most drives not exceeding 5-minutes. Once your hunting party arrives, the experiences flourish only within minutes of each other. This is a rare charactistic of most South American outfitting experiences.
